304 stainless steel (304SS) is a common material used in the fabrication of outdoor furniture. Here are some of its characteristics:
- Corrosion resistance: 304SS has good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, making it suitable for outdoor use.
- Durability: 304SS is a strong and durable material that can with stand the elements and resist damage.
- Cost-effective: Compared to other stainless grades, 304SS is relatively inexpensive, making it a popular choice for outdoor furniture applications.
In Depth Knowledge
As for 316 stainless steel (316SS), while it has better resistance to corrosion than 304SS, it is more expensive and therefore less commonly used in the fabrication of outdoor furniture. In general, the additional cost and limited improvement in corrosion resistance make 304SS a more practical choice for most outdoor furniture applications.
Caring of Stainless Steel
However, while 304SS is resistant to corrosion, it is not completely immune to it, especially in harsh outdoor.
- Clean regularly: Regular cleaning can help remove dirt and grime that can cause corrosion.
- Rinse after heavy rain: If the furniture is exposed to heavy rain, rinse it down fresh water to remove any dirt or salt buildup.
- Store during harsh weather: During extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, snow, or strong winds, store the furniture in a dry, sheltered area to protect it from damage.
Tips and Hints:
Minor scratches can abe retouch by using a Scotch Brite running along the hair line direction on brushed stainless steel surface.
